Otherwise you will save some money on the PC and lose a ton of time as he relearns his workflow. I think you should get him what he will work the fastest on. I think that is stupid, because if I depend on my machine to make $100K a year, an extra $1500 over the course of 2 or 3 years is cheap to maintain my efficiency and workflow. I've had some people bust my chops for splurging on a tricked mac when I could spend $1500 less for the same level PC. I've used both and I am very efficient on my mac. Neither is better, but the experience is very different.
